Salute Officers!

We need to plan a strategy and tactic we are going to use. I would like to invite all Flight Leaders - HotTom, 1PL-Adso and 1PL-Lucas to a meeting on The SYN Ventrilo server tomorrow on Monday 6th at 19:00UTC (21:00 Warszawa).

Please take a look at the map, read the intel information and orders from the HQ.

I also would like to talk to some skilled bomber pilots, they all are invited to the meeting as well as anyone who is interested and wants to express his ideas.

Port: 11310

Regards

Vasek

Guys we are going to bomb from high altitude (3km and higher) so start practicing high level altitude bombing. Set wind to 4km/h and try to hit something from 4k :grin: -no, seriously.

You can also sit into DFW for now, the Breguet is going to have no wind correction as well.

Salute!

I'm sorry guys but I won't be able to participate in this meeting. I'll be back from work at about 20:00, propably 21:00. I've registered myself only as a flight member and i'm surprised that I've been assigned as a flight leader. Of course I can lead the bombers if it's necessary. Let me know your plans, please. I'm sure there will be somebody from our squad at the meeting.

I am sorry to hear that :sad: Adso, please mainly inform Vander about your absence.

The FLs have probably been chosen randomly at some flights - I assume that Vander doesn't know who the best bomber pilot from your squad is (o:

OK, we will handle that. In any case if Adso of Fatman (2.Esk CO) would not be able to participate, I can lead the bombers because I was a CO of 2.Esk for several years and I don't have any problems with bombsight. Besides that, I am open beta tester and I have been flying Breguet for a few weeks ;)

The problem with the Breguet is that its speed indicator is calibratet in TAS for 2000m and for 4000m, while the bombsight is calibrated in IAS. So, we will need IAS/TAS tables depending on the altitude.

I'd strongly recommend a prior consultation on this with our bomber boys. They're experienced and somewhat proficient in bombing (that's the only thing they do in their lifes :lol: ). Additionally they have pretty many flight hours to their account, in HP, Gotha, DFW. And as far as I know they might not be much enthusiastic about high level bombing in a Breguet class recon plane.

You're right, like always:) We don't fly high unless we have to.

Yup, they all have been invited to the meeting today.

FYI this is how I count TAS. Bombers will need a calculator, here is a simple formula:

TAS - true airspeed (kmph)
IAS - indicated airspeed (kmph)
ALT - indicated altitude - above sea level (km)
a=3,28 - m to ft constant

In general TAS increases by 2% per 1000 feet. So let's use a geometric sequence.

TAS=IAS * 1,02^[(ALT*a) -1]

Example: IAS 160kmph, 4,1km ALT

x TAS = 160 * 1,02^[(4,1*3,28) -1] = 204 kmph TAS

So if you need IAS just divide the formula by TAS:

IAS=TAS / 1,02^[(ALT*a) -1]
